We all want to be happy but often times, life gets in the way and throws us curve balls which can make feeling happy quite difficult. Here are some happiness quotes to help put your focus back in the right place; a place of happiness.
“Being happy doesn’t mean everything is perfect. It means you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.” – Unknown
Happiness, to be happy, this is what we all want on some level. We may all have slightly different definitions of it but it all comes down to feeling good. These quotes about being happy will hopefully make you think or put a smile on your face. After all, what is life if we can’t experience happiness while we’re here? In our opinion, if you’re not happy, do something about it.
“Most people would rather be certain they’re miserable, than risk being happy.” – Robert Anthony
Often times, being happy means making a big change such as moving to another city or changing jobs or ending an unhappy relationship. Changes like this can be terrifying and for many people, they’re much rather stay miserable than to take that risk. This is likely due to not wanting for things to get even worse. What if you make those changes and things don’t work out and you end up even more unhappy?
The risk is there but you need to weigh the pros of taking those risks. What’s the benefit? If the benefit is increased happiness, then take the chance because if you’re miserable, not changing guarantees you stay that way.
“Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn’t stop to enjoy it.” – William Feather
Happiness can be felt and experienced just with the things that are already in your life. If you keep searching outside for happiness, it may be a while before you can feel it. Ask someone who has been in a wheelchair for years and is now finally able to walk how they feel about walking and they’ll likely tell you it’s the best feeling in the world. Ask someone who just landed a job after being unemployed for months how they feel about working.
You see, if you want to be happy, just notice the things you already have. If it helps, imagine your life without those things. Imagine living life without the use of your legs or eyes or not having a roof over your head or a steady income or your family or friends. You could create the feelings of being happy just by focusing on the right things.
“Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.” – Carl Jung
Every single one of us will experience good times and bad times throughout our life. Although we’d much rather not have to go through the bad times, we need to accept that it’s a part of life. Without feeling unhappy, happiness wouldn’t feel as great. Without the feeling of boredom, excitement wouldn’t live up to its name.
“Whoever is happy will make others happy too. He who has courage and faith will never perish in misery.” – Anne Frank
Being happy often times takes courage and faith. When your life is falling to pieces, having faith that things will eventually work out for you can help you through those challenging times. Believing that good times are around the corner can help give you the courage to find whatever little happiness you may think is left in you and bring it out. Happiness doesn’t get depleted.
“For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Life is short. If you agree with that statement then it really makes no sense to spend more time than necessary not to be happy. Just like anger, happiness is a feeling, a decision, a choice. You can feel happy the same way you would if you wanted to feel angry, simply by thinking of things that make you feel that particular emotion. Think happy thoughts and you’ll feel happier. Think sad thoughts and you’ll feel sadder.
If you grasp this concept then you’ll realize how foolish it is to spend a lot of time feeling negative emotions when you have the power to change how you feel.
“The most important thing is to enjoy your life, to be happy, it’s all that matters.” – Audrey Hepburn
Almost everything we do in life is either for the purpose of being happy or avoiding pain. All of the little things that get us angry or the drama that frustrate us or the problems we think is so big but is really minor in the whole scheme of things can really take us away from our pursuit of happiness.
You can’t always be happy but you’ll certainly be happier if you took the time to remember that being happy is the most important thing. You can have all the riches in the world but if you’re unhappy, then you’re a failure.
“Learn to let go. That is the key to happiness.” – Buddha
Let go of the pain, let go of the stress, the frustration, those regrets, because in the end, none of those things will even matter. Most of the stuff we get all worked up about are matters that will be forgotten a few years from now. Simplify your mind and you’ll make finding happiness a lot easier.
